"Technical Glitch Causes Misfire of Three Missiles During Indian Army Exercise in Jaisalmer"

On Friday, during a military exercise in Jaisalmer, three surface-to-air missiles were misfired due to technical glitches. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the missiles went out of range and hit fields in different villages, causing loud explosions. Two of the misfired missiles' debris has been collected, while the third missile is still unaccounted for. Army and police teams are presently searching for it.


The military exercise took place at the Pokhran field firing range, and army experts were testing missiles with a range of 10 to 25 kilometres. However, one of the missiles deviated from its path due to a technical issue. Defence spokesperson Lt Col Amitabh Sharma confirmed that the missiles were misfired during the exercise and said an investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the technical glitch. Further action will be taken accordingly.


Nachana Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kailash Vishnoi confirmed the incident and said that the first missile was found in a field at Ajasar village, and the second missile was discovered in another area. The missile left large craters on the field, causing damage. Authorities are still searching for the third missile and have urged people in the area to be cautious and report any suspicious activity.
