Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The leaders discussed topics that were brought up during Putin's visit to India in December, including defence cooperation, fertiliser supply cooperation, and India's engagement with the Russian Far East. Both leaders agreed to maintain regular contact and deepen bilateral cooperation in various areas. They also exchanged views on the situation in the Asia-Pacific region.

The two leaders discussed the practical aspects of implementing the agreements reached during Putin's visit to India. Putin thanked Modi for the warm hospitality extended to the Russian delegation during their visit. Both leaders expressed their desire for further development of the special and privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India.

India and Russia have a longstanding relationship, and their strategic partnership is built on mutual trust, respect, and shared interests. Russia is one of India's major defence partners, and the two countries have collaborated on several important projects, including the BrahMos supersonic missile system and the Sukhoi/HAL Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft project.

In recent years, the two countries have also been exploring opportunities for cooperation in other areas such as space, energy, and trade. During Putin's visit to India in December, the two countries signed a number of agreements to boost cooperation in these areas.

The phone call between Modi and Putin is a sign of the continued importance of the India-Russia strategic partnership. Despite changes in the geopolitical landscape, the two countries have remained steadfast in their commitment to deepen their cooperation and build a more stable and prosperous world. The leaders' commitment to regular contact and consultation on a range of issues demonstrates their shared vision for the future of their partnership.
