Ukraine has made a request to India for additional medical supplies and equipment, according to the external affairs ministry. The request came during a three-day visit to India by Ukraine's deputy foreign minister, Emine Dzhaparova, who handed over a letter from President Volodymyr Zelensky to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two sides discussed a wide range of issues, including bilateral and global concerns, cultural ties, and women's empowerment.
India has agreed to provide enhanced humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and has also assured the country of providing medical supplies, school buses, and other support. The Ukrainian Deputy FM has proposed that rebuilding infrastructure in Ukraine could be an opportunity for Indian companies, and both sides have agreed to hold the next Inter-Governmental Commission between New Delhi and Kyiv on a mutually convenient date.
During the visit, Dzhaparova also held bilateral talks with Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West), MEA, where the two sides discussed economic, defence, humanitarian assistance, and global issues of mutual interest. The Ukraine deputy foreign minister briefed Secretary (West) about the prevailing situation in Ukraine and highlighted Ukraine's desire to build a stronger and closer relationship with India.
Overall, the visit by Ukraine's deputy foreign minister has strengthened the relationship between India and Ukraine. The discussions have shown that both countries are committed to enhancing bilateral ties, particularly in areas such as medical and humanitarian assistance, cultural ties, and economic development. The proposals put forward by the Ukrainian Deputy FM have provided opportunities for Indian companies to invest in Ukraine's infrastructure, which could further strengthen ties between the two countries.
