On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed King Abdullah II of Jordan and praised his efforts to curb radical terrorism. Modi spoke of Jordan’s rich heritage and how it is inhabited on such a holy land that the message of God has become the voice of the prophets and saints around the world. He also laid out his vision for the development of Islamic youth, stating that development is only possible when Muslim youth hold the Quran in one hand and a computer in the other.

Modi went on to state that various religions of the world have flourished on Indian soil, from Lord Buddha 2500 years ago to Mahatma Gandhi in the last century. He believes that peace and happiness, as well as the tranquility of India, have spread all over the world. Indian democracy, according to Modi, is a celebration of age-old pluralism, and all faiths promote human values. Therefore, he feels that India's youth should associate themselves with the humanitarian aspects of Islam and be able to use modern technology.

Modi made it clear that the fight against terrorism and radicalization is not against any religion, but against a mindset that misguides youth. He added that every religion promotes human values and that India's youth should associate themselves with the humanitarian aspects of Islam. The event at Vigyan Bhavan was attended by a number of diplomats, representatives from a wide range of Islamic institutions, academicians, and think-tanks. The event also witnessed the release of the Urdu translation of a book titled ‘A Thinking Person’s Guide to Islam,’ authored by Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad bin Talal, a cousin of the King. The book highlights the King’s efforts to curb radicalism.
