In late January, there was a heated clash in Melbourne, Australia between pro-Khalistani supporters and Indian demonstrators. Thankfully, the Victoria Police were quick to respond and have since apprehended five individuals, three of whom were arrested this week, for their involvement in the incident.
During the altercation, flag poles were allegedly used as weapons causing physical harm to multiple victims. Fortunately, the police were able to separate and disperse the crowd, but two individuals had to be treated for injuries sustained during the fight.
The investigation is ongoing, and the police are actively pursuing any additional suspects. So far, a 23-year-old man from Kalkallo has been charged with affray and unlawful assault, while a 39-year-old man from Strathtulloh and a 36-year-old man from Craigieburn have both been charged with affray and violent disorder.
It's great to see that the Australian government is taking these types of incidents seriously. In March, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi that his country will not tolerate extremist actions or attacks on religious buildings, and that there is no place for such behavior against Hindu temples.
Let's hope that peace and harmony prevail and that we can all learn to coexist peacefully, regardless of our differing beliefs and opinions.
