Pakistan's Nuclear Weapons: A Cause for Global Concern Amidst Political Instability and Dependence on Foreign Aid

0

Pakistan's unstable political situation and devastating floods in 2022 have made things worse for the country, leaving it heavily dependent on foreign aid. Amidst these challenging times, there are rumors that Pakistan may sell its nuclear bombs to raise money, with potential buyers including Saudi Arabia, which is not currently a nuclear power. This has raised alarm bells for the international community, as the spread of terrorism and extremism in Pakistan is a cause for concern for the entire world.

Social activist Ahmed Ayub Mirza recently expressed his belief that Pakistan's last resort would be to sell its nuclear weapons. There are reports that Pakistan, along with its army, is smuggling large quantities of uranium worldwide for money. This has raised concerns about the safety and security of Pakistan's nuclear weapons, with many calling for an international watchdog to take control of all nuclear projects in Pakistan.

Last year, US President Joe Biden called Pakistan the most dangerous country in the world due to its possession of nuclear weapons without any control. This statement was heavily criticized in Pakistan, but the concern remains that if a situation like Afghanistan were to happen in Pakistan and a terrorist organization like TTP gained access to a nuclear bomb, it could be disastrous for the whole world.

The Federation of American Scientists' 2022 report on global nuclear weapons reveals that Russia has the largest number of nuclear weapons in the world (5977), followed by the United States (5428) and China (350). Pakistan has 165 nuclear bombs, while India has 160. With discussions about the possibility of a nuclear attack around the world, the situation in Pakistan has raised alarms worldwide.

Pakistan's nuclear weapons are a cause for concern, and the international community must act quickly to ensure their safety and security. It is crucial to avoid a situation where terrorist organizations gain access to such weapons, as it could have catastrophic consequences. The situation in Pakistan must be monitored closely, and steps taken to prevent the spread of terrorism and extremism. Only then can we hope for a safer and more secure world.
